No easy ride: The Absa Cape Epic Stage 7

The Absa Cape Epic ended today with a grand finale befitting this year’s spectacular race. As the #SasolEpicWomen raced at top speed down the serpentine track into Meerendal, the competition for first place was fierce right up to the finish line. Team Sport For Good eventually won the stage, with overall winners Team Spur-Specialized not far behind. The teams celebrated their remarkable achievements by showering their dusty, tired partners in Meerendal sparkling wine, while hordes of thunderous fans cheered them on from the grand stands.

With this challenge conquered, what lies ahead for the #SasolEpicWomen reigning champions, Ariane Kleinhans and Annika Langvad?

Ariane plans on having a well-deserved holiday before getting back in the saddle to compete in a UCI marathon in Germany. From there? “Then some Cross Country World Cup[s] in Germany and France, which I’m really looking forward to, so I’m going to see those ladies again!”

Annika is off to compete in the Olympics, and then off to the World Cups as well. She said, “Having won a World Cup last year made me so hungry for going out and racing well in the World Cup, so I’m super excited! The Epic was not only a big goal for me, it was also part of my preparation for the rest of the season, so all in all, I’m very satisfied and very happy.”
