Supporting #SasolEpicWomen: The Absa Cape Epic Stage 1

Sasol is honoured to once again sponsor of the Women’s category of the Absa Cape Epic, as well as be the Official Fuel Sponsor. 2016 will mark the 3rd year of our involvement in the world’s greatest stage race, and if the last two days are anything to go by, we are in for yet another thrilling competition!

Sasol strongly believes in gender equality and we work hard to promote the inclusion and development of women in business and in sport. For us, the decision to sponsor the Absa Cape Epic Women’s category was easy. The women ride the exact same route as the men and overcome all the same obstacles. Thus, it is only fair that they should receive the same rewards.

Since Sasol increased the Women’s category prize purse to match that of the Men’s, the Epic has seen a record number of women rider entries, raising the bar for competition and excellence.

In addition to the Cape Epic, we are also the sole sponsor of Sasol Banyana Banyana, South Africa’s senior national women’s soccer team, the Sasol League, which is comprised of 2800 players from 144 teams and 9 provinces and the Businesswomen’s Association (BWASA). Within Sasol we are building a solid pipeline of women leaders and decision makers within our ranks through structures such as our Women’s Network and the Mentorship Circle.

Last year we celebrated our 65 years; a testament to the dedication and tenacity of our people. The competition over the last few days has shown us that our ethos and aspirations are mirrored in the remarkable women who ride as #SasolEpicWomen.
